Yes. CVpilot requires a free account so we can securely store your resumes and analysis history and apply your monthly usage limits. Signing up takes under a minute and the Free tier costs nothing.

You can upload resumes as PDF or Word (.docx) files. You can also paste your resume in as plain text if you prefer.

Yes — uploaded resume files can be up to 10 MB. That is more than enough for a standard one- or two-page resume, even with embedded graphics.

Your resume gets an overall score from 0–100, broken down into four dimensions: Content (the impact and specificity of your bullet points), Formatting (structure and readability), Keywords (relevant industry terms), and ATS Compatibility (how cleanly an applicant tracking system can parse it).

ATS compatibility measures how well an Applicant Tracking System — the software most employers use to scan resumes — can read and understand yours. A high score means your formatting, sections, and wording are structured so nothing important gets lost or mis-parsed before a human ever sees it.

Most analyses finish within a minute. You will see your score and detailed, section-by-section feedback as soon as it completes.

No. The general resume analysis works on its own. Adding a target role or job description is optional — but doing so tailors the keyword feedback to that specific opportunity.

The general analysis scores your resume’s overall quality across content, formatting, keywords, and ATS compatibility. The ATS Keyword Checker is more targeted — it compares your resume against a specific job description and tells you exactly which keywords you have, which you are missing, and where to add them.

An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is the software employers use to collect and filter resumes. Many resumes are screened by an ATS for relevant keywords before a recruiter ever reads them, so matching the language of the job description is often the difference between getting seen and getting filtered out.

The ATS checker compares your resume against a job description and scores it on keyword coverage (how many of the role’s keywords you include), frequency (how often they appear), placement (whether they show up in high-impact sections like Experience and Projects), and variety (the breadth of skills you cover).

Matched keywords are ones already present in your resume. Missing keywords appear in the job description but not in your resume, so they are opportunities to add. Partial keywords are present but weak — for example, listed only in your Skills section rather than demonstrated in your experience, used too infrequently, abbreviated, or stated as a different synonym.

Yes. ATS analyses are saved automatically to your account, so you can revisit them any time from your resume’s analysis page. The ATS Keyword Checker is available on the Pro and Max plans.

The Free plan is free forever and includes 2 resume analyses and 2 AI rewrite runs per month, the ability to save resumes to your library, and a personal dashboard. ATS keyword analysis, cover letter tools, and detailed job matching are reserved for paid plans.

Pro is $9/month, or $90/year (about $7.50/month — roughly 17% off). It includes everything in Free plus 50 resume analyses, ATS keyword analysis, cover letter generation and analysis, AI rewrite suggestions, and detailed job matching each month. There is also a Max plan at $12/month ($120/year) that raises every monthly quota by 4×.

You can cancel a paid subscription with one click from your account settings. You keep full access until the end of your current billing period — no further charges after that.

Your saved resumes and analysis history are preserved for 30 days after you downgrade, so nothing is lost immediately and you can re-upgrade without starting over.

Yes — so you can revisit and re-analyze it — but it is stored securely. Resume content is encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) in private storage and is never shared with or sold to recruiters or advertisers.

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days.

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. We rely on a small set of trusted subprocessors to run the service (for example, our AI provider processes content via API with no data retention and no model training on your inputs). The full list is in our Data Processing Agreement.

You can request deletion from your account settings, or email hello@cvpilot.co and we will remove your account and associated personal data within 30 days.
